Research interests
My research lies at the intersection of optimization theory and algorithms, machine learning, and computational and scientific imaging. Although it has a strong mathematical flavor, it has been applied in areas from autonomous systems and distributed signal processing to medical imaging, art investigation, approximate computing, and sensor networks.

- 2008: MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.
- 2013: dual PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, and the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.
- 2013-16: Senior Research Associate at University College London, UK.
- 2017- : Assistant Professor in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK
