My current research focuses broadly on real estate markets (housing policy, housing affordability, overhang, financialisation of housing, economics of urban retail space, the effects of agglomeration and urban settings on housing behaviour), applied economics (balance of payments and exchange rate, Fintech) and teaching & learning scholarship (particularly pedagogical concerns relating to teaching of economics)

I have been an academic for more than two decades. Prior to joining Heriot-Watt, I was attached to several universities in Malaysia, including Wawasan Open University, University of Nottingham (Malaysia Campus) and Monash University (Malaysia Campus). I started my career in Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) before realising that the allure of teaching in the university became too overpowering to ignore.

My professional background is in economics with a penchant for scientific, data-driven approach to problem-solving. I survived the gruelling curriculum in the University of London and University of Nottingham, where I earned my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees respectively.

Moreover, I am a Year Coordinator for MA (Business and Finance). I also help to supervise undergraduate and taught postgraduate dissertations. I am open to supervising doctoral students as well. In the area of engagement, I am attempting to establish closer working relationships between the university and the FinTech and data analytics community, hoping to add value and vibrancy to campus life.

I have published mostly in real estate economics, and some papers on international finance. In that regard, I help conduct peer review of journal article submissions in these areas too.
