Glenn Hitchman studied Economics at the University of Surrey, graduating with a first class degree and associateship with distinction. He then followed a conversion route into Psychology, obtaining a MSc with distinction at the University of Hertfordshire before completing his PhD at the University of Northampton, where he also worked as an Associate Lecturer. He subsequently spent a period of two years teaching and researching in China, firstly at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics and then at Southwest University. After returning to the UK, he was involved in establishing a new academic campus within Wembley Stadium whilst leading a BSc in Sport Psychology at UCFB. He then served as Head of Academic Subjects and Quality Lead at Royal Holloway International Study Centre before returning to the University of Northampton in 2017, where he served as a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Subject Leader in Psychology. He was appointed as Head of Psychology and Sociology in 2020, before taking up a new role as Professor and Head of Psychology at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia in 2023.
Although Glenn has been involved in a wide variety of collaborative research projects spanning neuroscience, cognitive psychology and social psychology, his main specialisms are in parapsychology and individual differences. He previously led the Exceptional Experiences and Consciousness Studies research group in the University of Northampton’s Centre for Psychology and Social Sciences.
Glenn is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of the Division of Academics, Researchers & Teachers in Psychology (DARTP). He is also a full member of the Society for Psychical Research and as a professional member of the Parapsychological Association, he currently serves as an international liaison for China and previously sat on the on the board of directors.
