There are no distinct project PhD projects available but I always am interested in exploring opportunities in the following areas: Supply Chain Relationship Management, Performance Management, Experiential Learning, Work-Integrated Learning. Additionally, I have a keen interest in better understanding the influence of social capital on performance in Higher Education and Supply Chain relationship settings.

Biography

Florian joined Heriot-Watt in 2021 as Assistant Professor of Business Management.

Florian graduated with a BA (2:1) in Business Administration with majors in Production and Distribution Management as well as European Busines from the University of Applied Sciences Ansbach in 2014, and completed his MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management the following year at Heriot-Watt University. He completed his PhD in 2022 funded by the Business Management scholarship of Heriot-Watt University. Prior to completing his PhD and to joining Heriot-Watt as Assistant Professor he successfully completed the Operations Management trainee programme of Royal Mail and worked as Operations Manager for three years in various locations across Scotland. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Florian is an Associcate Professor of Supply Chain Management in the Marketing & Operations deparment at Edinburgh Business School. In his role as Global Head of Teaching and Learning, he leads the department's provision of all taught programmes across the Edinburgh, Dubai and Malaysia campuses as well as its asynchronously taught online programmes. He further leads the Freight Transport and Warehouse Management course on the MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme. He previously held the role of programme director of the MSc Operations Management and MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management. 

Since joining Heriot-Watt in 2021, Florian held copious global and local course leadership roles and lead as well as coordinated the Undergraduate Business Management dissertation supervision processes. These encompassed the coordination of more than 60 colleagues and 250 students over the period of three years. He further contributed to the delivery of the Kuehne Foundation's and Heriot-Watt's joint programme for increasing the capacity of Logistics and Supply Chain Management knowledge within Nigeria.

Florian's research interests revolve around the influence of Social Capital on Performance in the context of Supply Chains as well as Higher Education settings. Additionally, he is particularly interested in experiential and work-integrated learning.
