Dr. Fadi Ghaith, an accomplished academic and industry professional, is the Head of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) at Heriot-Watt University Dubai. In this role, he provides academic leadership, oversees the development and implementation of the School's strategy, and strengthens ties between the University and industry.

Dr. Ghaith has a distinguished career in both academia and industry. At Heriot-Watt University, he previously served as the University Dean of Science and Engineering (2017–2020) and the Director of Postgraduate Programmes for the School of EPS (2022). His contributions to engineering education have been recognised internationally, earning him the prestigious Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and several teaching excellence awards.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Ghaith held various leadership roles in the oil and gas industry, including Design and Development Engineer, Technical Purchasing Manager, and Engineering Consultant (2002–2010). During this time, he successfully led high-value projects exceeding $10 million.

Dr. Ghaith is also active in external roles, serving as an engineering consultant, principal investigator, and reviewer for externally funded research projects and academic journals. He has chaired numerous international conferences and conducted pedagogical research to advance engineering education.

Dr Ghaith led a multidisciplinary research in Heat transfer,  renewable energy and engineering education. His main research areas are related to solar powered cooling systems, solar powered desalination and heat recovery in energy systems. Dr Ghaith has more than 45 scientific articles that have been published in peer reviewed high ranking international journals and conference proceedings.

His industrial experience is recognised internationally as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and a Professional Engineer certified by the Jordan Engineering Association.
