Research interests

Dr Evangelia Topriska is Assistant Professor of Building Services Engineering, in the Architectural Engineering Programme, in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society in Heriot Watt University. 

Evangelia holds a Dipl Ing in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and an MSc in Building Services Engineering with Sustainable Energy from Brunel University London. She received her PhD from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Brunel University London on the experimental and computational study of a solar powered hydrogen production system for domestic cooking applications in developing economies.

Evangelia is active in teaching, particularly in the areas of electrical and lighting systems and building services systems. Her research interests are focused on:   renewable hydrogen applications for distributed power applications and integration of hydrogen technologies towards energy efficiency in UAE buildings, TEG applications in buildings, building energy use benchmarking, weather data analysis and their effect on building energy systems simulations. She is experienced as a researcher in various European Union Projects about energy efficiency in buildings and she has industrial experience in building energy audits. She has worked as an Investigator representing Heriot-Watt in the collaborative project entitled 'Mapping the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect in Dubai and its impact on building energy performance', funded as part of the Global Challenges Research Workshop Call 2016 (RCUK). Evangelia has published numerous papers in peer reviewed international scientific journals and conferences
