Personal profile

Biography

I am an Assistant Professor in Statistics at the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot Watt University, Dubai Campus. I completed my PhD in Statistics at Edith Cowan University, Australia, and MSc in Statistics at Uppsala University, Sweden. My specialisation includes Statistical Modelling, Spatial Statistics, Categorical Data Analysis, Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, Statistical Computing, and Simulation-based Inference. I am a member of the International Statistical Institute, the International Association for Statistical Computing, and the International Biometric Society.

Before joining Heriot-Watt University, I was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. I also worked as a Research Scientist at the Building and Road Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-BRRI), Ghana.

I have taught several statistics and mathematics courses including Bayesian Inference and Computational Methods; Time Series and Machine Learning; Probability and Statistics; Calculus; Further Topics in Regression Analysis; Spatial Statistics; Time Series Analysis and Forecasting; Nonparametric Statistics; Statistical Inference; and Sampling Techniques and Survey Methods.

I have trained and supervised several postgraduate and undergraduate students in statistics related research. In addition, I have served as a reviewer for several international academic journals and as a resource person for various statistical data analysis workshops.

Research interests

My research focuses on statistical modelling, categorical data analysis, simulation-based statistical inference and geospatial modelling, with applications in road traffic fatality risk assessment and disease risk modelling.  I am actively involved in interdisciplinary research and remain committed to using data-driven insights to reduce health disparities and  enhance road traffic safety.
