Biography
Dima Alkawadri is an architect and researcher specialising in sustainability within the built environment. Her work bridges design and research with practical expertise from industry, bringing together evidence-led inquiry and real-world application.
Dima’s latest research investigates how AI-enabled methods and computational tools can support design decision-making in the built environment. Her doctoral thesis, A Roadmap to Enhanced Sustainability Value in Built Environment: An Optimised Impact-Framework, proposes a comprehensive impact-focused framework that integrates environmental, social, and economic indicators to guide Net Zero-aligned design processes. She has published and presented on topics including AI-driven participatory backcasting, generative image-design pipelines, and data-informed strategies for regenerative interior and architectural design.
As a practitioner, Dima brings extensive experience in architecture, sustainable design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration across the MENA region. Her work combines research-led thinking with applied industry practice, engaging with design studios, sustainability councils, and academic–industry networks to advance regenerative, socially responsible, and technologically enabled design solutions.
Her practice is rooted in sustainable design principles and a commitment to creating environments that balance performance, wellbeing, and long-term impact.
