Personal profile

Research interests

I'm a senior academic specializing in photonics, specifically experiment-led ultrafast laser sources and metrology. Over a post-doctoral career spanning 25 years I have won £26M in grants and research contracts, with £16M as PI. My research is motivated by its potential for real-world exploitation, and a substantial fraction is carried out in collaboration with industry in the UK and abroad, including the spin-out company Chromacity Ltd. (chromacitylasers.com).

I welcome opportunities for new collaborations. If you are interested in discussing how widely tunable ultrafast lasers could be applied in a new context to spectroscopy, astrophotonics, metrology or microscopy, please email me at: [email protected]
