Research interests
My original research interests lie in brewing yeast and how stress impacts on their phyisology and also fermentation performance. My interests have expanded beyond this and I am now interested in all aspects of yeast and fermentation and how they can lead to process improvements especially around sustainability.
Biography
I have a BSc (Hons) in Brewing & Distilling and a PhD in brewing yeast physiology. I am a member of the Institute of Brewing & Distilling and hold the Diploma in Brewing from them, and have been part of their Board of Examiners for the Diploma in Brewing since 2014. I am a member of the American Society of Brewing Chemists, becoming the Chair of the Technical Committee and joining the Board of Directors in 2021. I am on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists. I hold the freedom of the City of London and am a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Distillers and am an Honorary Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Brewers.
