Biography
I am a Research and Engagement Assistant within the School of Social Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, where I contribute to projects focused on fostering inclusive and accessible careers within the Research and Innovation ecosystem. Projects I have been involved in recently/currently:
- Disability Inclusive Careers in Engineering & the Sciences (DICE), (EPSRC, Impact Acceleration Award)
- The Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Caucus (EDICa) (UKRI, in collaboration with the British Academy)
- Assessing the impact of the UK visa system on international researchers, focusing on protected characteristics and caregivers, and delivering policy recommendations (UKRI/ESRC)
- Examining the impact of doctoral training grants on EDI for PhD students, and delivering policy and terms & conditions recommendations (UKRI)
I support a range of research and engagement activities and I am passionate about translating research into accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences. I am enthusiastic about creating impact by informing policy and practice through evidence-based research and actionable recommendations.
Currently, as part of the DICE project, I am designing a learning and development platform aimed at improving the workplace experiences of disabled and neurodivergent engineers and scientists and supporting employers to create more accessible and inclusive environments.
