Research interests

Babak is an Associate Professor of Marketing in Business Management Department at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. Babak’s research has a dual focus: ‘consumer behaviour’ and ‘marketing management’ with a particular interest in “tourism and heritage” fields. Over the years, Babak has had over 70 academic publications including 3* and 4* journals. He is the chairman of tourism marketing special interest group of Academy of Marketing, UK. He is currently severing as editor, associate editor and editorial review board of key journals in the field including: International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, The Service Industries Journal, Tourism Management Perspectives and Iranian Journal of Management Studies. He has edited special issue for Journal of Marketing Management. He is regularly invited speaker in USA, Middle East and UK. He organised and hosted the 12th International Colloquium on Arts, Heritage, Non-profit and Social Marketing Conference (Academy of Marketing) in Heriot-Watt University in September 2013. He will be hosting tourism marketing special interest group conference (Academy of Marketing) in Heriot-Watt University in December 2017.

 

At institutional level, to date Babak has provided academic leadership for over several academic colleagues, supervised and graduated three PhD students. Babak has also secured over £2.5m funding (including Horizon 2020 and KTP). From a teaching and learning perspective, he has taught in different university levels including BSc, MSc, MBA and MRes. He uses interactive and engaging learning experience in his teaching.

Babak is an Associate Professor in Marketing and Postgraduate Research Coordinator in Business Management department.
