Research interests

Use of the resource-based view (RBV) as a lens in examining the structural and cultural flexibility in organisations. More recently,  developed an interest in the use of digital technologies in the workplace especially with regards to fostering connectedness.

  • Global Course Leader (Marketing and Management of SMEs).
  • Local course leader (Strategic Management, International Entrepreneurship and Resourcing & Talent Management) for undergraduate programmes.   
  • Post Graduate teaching (Developing and Executing Strategy) - Edinburgh Business School - MBA programme.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in their final year dissertation. 
  • Member of the Student Disciplinary Committe (HWU) and the Health and Safety Committee (HWUM)
  • Review and update documents for MQA and accreditation purposes. 
  • Member of the Senior Fellow Working Group (Malaysia)

 

Biography

Dewi Arual has more than 25 years of experience in the education industry and lectures on various courses including "Resourcing & Talent Management", "International Entrepreneurship", "Marketing & Management of SMEs" and "Strategic Management" at undergraduate level. She has also taught on the MBA programmes for the University of Southern Queensland (Aust.) and the University of Sunderland (UK) teaching the Strategic Human Resource Management, Strategic Management and Managing Organisation Behaviour modules. She currently teaches "Developing and Executing Strategy" for the MBA programme with the Edinburgh Business School.

Dewi is part of the Senior Fellows Network (SFN), Malaysia which together with Advance HE (UK) looks for opportunities to formulate how Senior Fellows in Malaysia can further influence and impact higher education institutions, to collaborate in building a network of practitioners in their quest in achieving excellence in teaching and learning. She is also a member of the Senior Fellows Working Group which is tasked with overseeing the organisation of SFN related activities in Malaysia. 

Dewi is particularly interested in the use of the resource-based view (RBV) as a lens in examining the structural and cultural flexibility in organisations. More recently, Dewi’s interest is in the use of digital technologies in the workplace especially with regards to fostering connectedness.
