Research interests

I am a sociologist specializing in substance use in sport and exercise, anti-doping policy, and gender dynamics in sport and fitness contexts. My work is broadly international in scope and draws on multiple disciplines. My research has underpinned sport policy decisions, teaching, and public engagement activity.

I have been Primary Investigator on projects funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency, World Athletics (formerly IAAF), and the Wellcome Trust. 

Biography

My academic qualifications include a BA in Political Science from Indiana University and MA and PhD in Sociology from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York. I was a post-doc at BST, the NIH and NIDA funded research center on substance use.
