Research interests
Anees was awarded a full postgraduate scholarship by Heriot-Watt University in 2014. His research centres on social impact evaluation, sustainable development, accountability of not-for-profit organisations, critical perspectives on accounting and the role of accounting in shaping society. His current projects are focused on accountability of educational NGOs, alternative accounts on micro-financing initiatives by the NGOs, accounting for modern slavery and counter-accounts on race in UK sports. Anees's research is not only theoretical but also deeply practical, with the aim of influencing policy and practice. He actively seek to engage with stakeholders, including NGOs, policymakers, and industry leaders, to ensure that his work has real-world relevance and impact.

Awarded 1200 by the Open University FBL Seedcorn Funding with my co-investigator Dr. Anwar Halari (Open University, UK) for research on accountability dynamics in an interest-free microfinance NGO.
