Research interests

I am a mathematical physicist and my research focuses on quantum and classical integrable systems. More specifically, I am interested in integrable quantum spin chains and the Bethe ansatz formulation, quantum algebras, braid groups, Hecke & Temperley-Lieb algebras, solutions of the Yang-Baxter & reflection equations, and the set theoretic Yang-Baxter equation. I am also interested in classical discrete integrable systems and integrable field theories, in particular the Hamiltonian formulation, dressing methods, solitons & integrable PDEs/ODEs. I am a member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group. More details about my research can be found in my personal webpage.


I studied physics as an undergraduate at National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and I obtained my PhD in theoretical physics from University of Miami in 1999. I have held postdoctoral positions at Durham University, University of York, LAPTH-Annecy & University of Bologna. I was assistant professor at University of Patras before joining Heriot-Watt University in 2013 as a reader. I have been at Heriot-Watt University since then as a reader and professor.
