Biography

I received a BA in Business Administration and an MBA from Rissho University Tokyo in 1998 and 2000. I received an MAcc in 2005 and a PhD in Accounting in 2009 from the University of Dundee. I have been a member of staff at Heriot-Watt University from 2011.

Research interests

My research interests are Corporate Governance and disclosure practices, sustainability disclosure and communication issues in corporate reporting.

Roles & Responsibilities

I am currently the Programme Director for the MSc in Accountancy and the MSc in International Accounting and Finance. Between 2019 and 2022, I was the Programme Director for the MA in Accountancy and the MA in Accountancy and Finance. From 2016 to 2019, I was the Director of Undergraduate Taught Programmes for the Department of Accountancy, Economics, and Finance. 

My current teachings are the Social and Environmental Accounting (Undergraduate Year 2) and the International Accounting Standards (Postgraduate) courses.
