    Description

    This workshop was delivered to 16-17 years olds as an introductory experience of university.

    Aims
    • To introduce the cognitive psychology concept of executive functioning
    • To understand problem-solving abilities in healthy people, and how tests of problem-solving can be used to evaluate the impact of brain damage in patients.

    During the tutorial class, students work through the Tower of Hanoi Test in order to develop an appreciation about what psychologists mean by executive function and how to measure it. Students also consider how performance can be measured and compute some basic descriptive statistics of the data collected in class.
