Description

The SDME is a competition to design and construct the House of the Future. Heriot-Watt's entry in 2018 was led by Shameel Muhammed and staff from the Dubai Campus. Heriot-Watt was selected as one of 22 teams to take part. The house was successfully designed, procured and constructed, and achieved 4th position overall in the competition: a significant achievement for the first time the university has entered such a competition. The project is unique: a live-build, student-led, research-integrated curriculum activity which allows for real innovation in interdisciplinary learning and in research.
