Description

As host of the Visiting Fellow, I coordinated Dr Xavier’s placement at Heriot-Watt University with the strategic aim of strengthening international collaboration between Heriot-Watt and Brazil in applied social science, engineering and GIS. Dr Xavier, a Co-Investigator on the British Academy–funded project Amazon Indigenous Wisdom: Shaping Climate Solutions in Brazil, was responsible for the design and development of all GIS datasets, StoryMaps and the project’s 3D physical model of the Amazon rainforest. During his fellowship at Heriot-Watt, I supported his integration into interdisciplinary research networks while he advanced these technical components and prepared a public exhibition of the 3D model, scheduled to take place in Edinburgh in September, further reinforcing international knowledge exchange and institutional visibility.
