    Description

acoustic properties of the rock is mostly based on the sonic velocity response of either compressional or shear wave motion which have travelled through the rock. These waves velocity is much more controlled by the petrophysical properties of the rock such as the pore space where generally we can know that higher porosity would response in slower wave velocity. However, wave velocity response is not entirely controlled by porosity only but by the elastic properties of the rock. Elastic properties of the rock are not a constant domain since rocks of many places exhibit different properties basically from its minerals composition and its depositional settings. Factors that affect the velocity response are discussed in this paper
