Description

Bioprinting organs

One-off activity for four evening sessions and one morning session with an external audience (paying public) and 1-3 demonstrators. Deadinburgh was a unique theatre event set during a fictional outbreak of a contagious disease. In a theatrical world with actors playing ‘infected citizens’ and soldiers, the audience will meet real scientists using real science to solve a fictitious disease which manifests in frightening ‘Zombie’ symptoms. A 3D printer was exhibited to demonstrate the process of 3D bioprinting human tissues. The audience were given a talk on stem cells including the ethical issues and how they may be used for organ/tissue engineering.
