Karama 2040 @ Dubai Design Week 2024 The second-year architecture student project, Karama 2040, was successfully showcased at Dubai Design Week, held from November 5th to 10th, 2024. The project showcase at Dubai Design Week comprised a body of student architecture design projects developed from 2021 – 2023 as part of the proposed vision for Karama developed by Associate Professor Shameel Muhammed in response to the published Dubai 2040 Masterplan vision. The key elements of the showcase were the scaled model of Karama’s southern sector as it was in 2023, the immersive panel highlighting the proposed green corridor that connects the key nodes of the sector, and the digital showcase of detailed student architecture projects of a community centre, children's library and coding school for the neighbourhood. The project was well received by the community. While many validated the proposal and shared their views, some of our younger visitors were inspired by the cardboard model of Karama.
