I played a central role in strengthening Heriot Watt University Malaysia’s engagement with several articulated partner institutions in China through a series of official academic visits. These visits were designed to showcase HWUM’s learning and teaching excellence, promote alignment in curriculum and assessment standards, and enhance the overall quality assurance of our joint programmes.My contribution extended well beyond participation. I was actively involved in planning, preparing, and developing key materials for the visits, including academic content, curriculum showcases, and resources demonstrating HWU’s pedagogical approaches. I also led the preparation of student and alumni testimonials, offering partners authentic perspectives on our student experience and educational impact. During the visits, I represented HWUM in meetings, presentations, and academic dialogues with institutional leaders and teaching teams. These discussions strengthened mutual understanding of programme expectations, identified opportunities for quality enhancement, and supported deeper collaboration across partner networks. The visits were highly fruitful, directly contributing to tangible institutional outcomes. The strengthened relationships and enhanced visibility of HWU’s educational offerings led to an estimated 35% increase in SoSS Malaysia student recruitment for AY2025/26 and an almost 500% increase in China student enrolment for HWUM. These results demonstrate the strategic value of our engagement efforts and the impact of my contributions in supporting international recruitment, partnership development, and the long term sustainability of our articulated programmes.
