Description
InnovationLight As part of the International Year of Light, Professor Rory Duncan and Dr Paul Dalgarno, from the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering at Heriot-Watt University, will explore the smallest aspects of our biological world, discussing how new and amazing techniques in microscopy have emerged from a remarkable partnership between biology, physics, chemistry and engineering. This interactive talk will reveal an untold revolution in microscopy, where this unusual alliance between the sciences has allowed us to see the breath-taking beauty and detail inside our working, living cells. Professor Duncan and Dr Dalgarno will include details on their research into pushing the limits of biological imaging through the Edinburgh Super Resolution Imaging Consortium, ESRIC, a partnership between Heriot-Watt University and The University of Edinburgh, that takes a multidisciplinary approach to applying state-of-the-art microscopy techniques to biological research at the forefront of the life sciences.Period | 26 Nov 2015 |
