Indigenous Knowledge, Climate Policy and Justice: A Multi-Stakeholder Interview Programme in Brasília

Between 4 and 8 November in Brasília, a team of eight researchers carried out an intensive programme of interviews with 22 policymakers and Indigenous leaders as part of the research project Amazon Indigenous Wisdom: Shaping Climate Solutions in Brazil. This activity examined the intersections between climate policies, climate justice and Indigenous territories, capturing both institutional perspectives and Indigenous lived experiences. The interviews explored how Indigenous knowledge is incorporated into national climate governance, the structural barriers faced by Indigenous peoples within policy processes, and the implications of climate change for territorial rights and environmental protection. This research phase strengthened the project’s policy-oriented dimension, generating critical insights to inform more inclusive, just and territorially grounded climate policy frameworks in Brazil.
