High power laser sources and beam delivery workshop

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in workshop, seminar, course

Description

Recent developments in laser source technology have resulted in a more efficient and versatile “engine” for use in material processing systems. Source capability and capital cost can have a significant impact on the overall competitiveness of a manufacturing solution.

Lasers for manufacturing also require innovative and efficient beam delivery. Over the past decades, the use of fibre optic beam delivery, optical assemblies and scanning heads have all contributed to achieve greater throughput, easier integration, higher reliability and greater efficiency.

With speakers covering different types of industrial laser source together with the latest advances in beam delivery, shaping and manipulation, this workshop will be of interest to academics, laser manufacturers, system integrators and end users of lasers for material processing. Taking place at Heriot Watt, the workshop will include an optional tour of the facilities at the University which is part of the Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Laser-based Production Processes.
