Description

The Environmental Impact Assessment section of Frontiers in Environmental Engineering publishes high-quality fundamental and applied research across the field of environmental assessment from an engineering perspective. EIA systems are now a current feature of most projects for development and construction, since they help us predict at an early stage the impact these projects will have on the environmental settings, but also to create benchmarks and establish measures and policies that can be used to mitigate their negative consequences.

The goals of the research published in this section is to provide comprehensive approaches that lead to environmental improvement and sustainability and, ultimately to provide a bridge between environmental impact assessment and policy and decision making. Therefore, the section is open to submissions made by researchers and academics, but also policy-makers and regulators.

Areas covered by this section include, but are not limited to:

• Development of EIA theory

• New guidelines and practices related to EIA

• Novel application of EIA to projects, technologies, processes and projects

• Life Cycle Assessment

• Carbon Footprinting

• EIA methods and frameworks

• Exergy Analysis

• Sustainability Analysis

• Industrial Ecology

• Decision support systems

• Environmental management

• Tools for EIA

All studies must contribute insights into development of novel aspects related to EIA and innovative application of EIA. Manuscripts dealing with the sustainable management of natural resources as well as the relation between human societies and the environment should be submitted to Frontiers in Environmental Science.
