As part of my British Academy–funded project Amazon Indigenous Wisdom: Shaping Climate Solutions in Brazil, I have actively supported Indigenous partners from remote Amazonian communities, with a focus on leadership development, public speaking and engagement with international policy processes. Together with Indigenous researchers, we participated as an Observer representing the British Academy at COP30 in Belém (2025), engaging across the Blue Zone, Green Zone, COP do Povo and Aldeia COP, and enabling first-hand exposure to global climate negotiations. Our project also supported our Indigenous researchers’ participation in the March of Indigenous Women, held in Brasília (capital of Brazil) on 7 August 2025, where they marched at the front line alongside representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Indigenous Peoples. These activities demonstrate tangible research impact through capacity building, increased visibility and the empowerment of Indigenous leadership within national and international climate justice arenas.
