Building on the fictional narratives developed in the first summer workshop at Heriot-Watt University Dubai, Digital Disruptions 2.0, will focus on designing and building spatial artifacts from these fictional worlds. The spatial environment of these worlds is defined by portals, artifacts, and functional pods brought to life by the characters of these worlds. Students will engage in computational processes and advanced digital fabrication workflows to design, prototype, and realize 1:1 installations. The key elements include generative modeling, geometry optimization, and working within material and fabrication constraints. Further, Augmented Reality (AR) will be integrated as a tool for digital fabrication and prototyping, evolving from its initial use for visualization in the first workshop.
Digital Disruptions is an ongoing student exchange and collaborative workshop between Heriot-Watt University’s D6 Architecture Programme, Dubai, and CEPT University. Within the wider subject area of digital computation and fabrication, the workshop enables students from both Universities to work together to explore advanced computational and generative architecture design workflows.
