Climate Change, Extractivism and Territorial Justice – Patagonia Research Impact (2022)

Activity: Other

Description

In November 2022, I co-led a 10-day research expedition to remote areas of the Patagonian Desert in collaboration with the Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco (Argentina, 15 – 23 November 2022). The research examined climate change impacts, desertification and the environmental consequences of fossil fuel extraction. As part of this work, I delivered an invited presentation at the University of Comodoro Rivadavia (14 November 2022), sharing findings with policymakers, academics and students and contributing to international debates on climate vulnerability, extractivism and territorial justice. This activity extended the impact of my research beyond Brazil, strengthening South–South academic dialogue on climate change in fragile environments.
