Career Ready is a social mobility charity which supports a range of causes. In my voluntary mentorship role I supported a pupil from SIMD background for 18 months through a series of monthly meetings which last between 60-90 minutes where we spoke about different career options and pathways, as well as the skills needed for the world of work. Furthermore, I hosted the mentee for a one-month internship at Heriot-Watt during which they received further training to develop their skills while also being exposed to the world of work.
