This presentation addresses a need for greater involvement and understanding of children in the town planning process, and planning policy itself. It reflects on two interlinked pieces of research:
1. A practical and theoretical exploration of how children use and view place based on participatory action research. 2. Policy analysis that compares what happens in relation to children’s play and planning in Scotland and Wales.
The result is an increased understanding of how children fit (or do not fit) into planning systems in the present, and recommendations for child-inclusive planning going forward.
