Description

Investigator (2024–ongoing): I currently lead an international, Indigenous-centred research group as Principal Investigator of the British Academy–funded project Amazon Indigenous Wisdom: Shaping Climate Solutions in Brazil. The group comprises nine academic staff, one PhD researcher, two early career researcher (post-PhD), four research assistants, one collaborator, and two technical staff supporting logistics and audio-visual documentation As leader of this group, my activities place strong emphasis on ethical supervision, mentoring, leadership development and capacity building within Indigenous-led research contexts. This is evidenced by intensive preparatory and field-based training, including a one-week immersive research workshop held in Pelotas, Brazil, in December 2024, focused on ethical protocols and methodological approaches for Indigenous research. This preparation was followed by a one-month field expedition (February–March 2025) in remote areas of the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, during which I led a research team of 10 members and worked alongside Indigenous communities to conduct research grounded in co-production, care and reciprocity. This project operates as a transnational research environment linking the Global South and the UK through collaborative, participatory and policy-facing research.
