I was invited to present the British Academy–funded research project Amazon Indigenous Wisdom: Shaping Climate Solutions in Brazil at the I Congresso Luso-Brasileiro: Direito, Justiça e Desafios Contemporâneos – Perspetivas Multidisciplinares, held at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. The presentation introduced the Project and highlighted the transdisciplinary and intercultural collaboration approach between Indigenous communities and academic institutions in Brazil and the UK, grounded in the ancestral knowledge of the Yawanawa, Noke Koi Katukina, Shanenawa and Huni Kuin Indigenous People. The talk focused on the project’s use of decolonial methodologies—including storytelling, GIS yarning mapping, 3D modelling, participatory filmmaking and immersive fieldwork—to amplify Indigenous voices, challenge the marginalisation of Indigenous epistemologies in climate governance, and advance inclusive, community-led approaches to climate justice and ecological resilience.
