Amazon Indigenous Wisdom. EGIS Research Away Day.

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talk

Description

I was invited to present my British Academy–funded research project, Amazon Indigenous Wisdom: Shaping Climate Solutions in Brazil, at the EGIS Research Away Day. The presentation highlighted the essential role of the humanities in envisioning and shaping future climate change policy, demonstrating how humanities-based perspectives enable critical engagement with long-term futures, environmental governance and ethical responsibility. I emphasised how the project integrates the ontologies and knowledge systems of Amazon Indigenous communities into climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, both valuing Indigenous wisdom and challenging Western-centric policy frameworks. The session showcased how intercultural, humanities-led research can contribute to more inclusive, pluralistic and socially grounded approaches to global environmental change.
